Moving to & from Spain – with the pros
Spain is a popular country for German emigrants. There are many reasons for this. Sometimes a change of residence is work-related, either on the wishes of the employer or for reasons of a professional new start. In such cases, the whole family often goes along. Another attraction is the pleasant climate to enjoy in one’s twilight years. Due to freedom of establishment, moving to Spain is not a problem for members of the EU.
Our relocation service
The move itself with your belongings will be carried out smoothly, with a minimum of stress, by our professional removals firm. Discuss in advance with your personal moving consultant which tasks you would like to be carried out by our relocation experts and which ones you would like to take care of yourself. Upon request, our removals firm of course assumes all the necessary work of dismantling the furniture, from the packaging of the entire household goods through the safe transport to installing the furniture and unpacking the household goods at the new residence. Our experts reliably take care of all the preparations for the move. These include requesting any parking permits for our vans as well as the proper disposal of utensils that are no longer required. The relocation plan also includes a costs calculation, which is determined in detail with the relocation calculator.
If you are planning to take a rented flat in Spain at first, perhaps you cannot accommodate all of your furniture. No problem, our relocation service can take care of your furniture storage on request. Would you still like to take certain items with you? For this purpose, our furniture forwarding company offers transportation with low tariff additional loads.
For those moving from Germany, there are no restrictions or formalities to be observed for your household goods. However, you must apply for a NIE number. You can do this either immediately after entry into the country, at the local police station or the competent registration office or, better yet, you can apply for the number beforehand at the Spanish consulate in Germany. This identification and tax number is necessary for all legal transactions, administrative procedures and banking matters.
Your new surroundings
Spain stands for sun, sea and sand. This is due to the exposed position on the Iberian Peninsula and extensive Mediterranean coasts. Spain is a member of the EU. The largest cities are Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. The capital Madrid has for centuries been the geographical, political and cultural centre of Spain and the seat of government and the King. No less important is Barcelona, Catalonia’s capital and second largest city in the country. The region around Barcelona could be considered the industrial heartland of Spain. An important economic factor in Spain is tourism. Holidays in Spain are very popular, especially among German and British citizens. The most popular destinations are Mallorca, the Canary Islands and the historic towns on the Costa del Sol.
What else is important?
Our moving guide offers you valuable tips and the to do list facilitates the scheduling for the formalities to be attended to, such as resignation, deregistration and re-registration at official bodies or insurers. If you already receive a pension, talk to the competent pension insurance institution before moving. To quickly feel at home in the country, you should acquire Spanish language skills.
